Privacy is important to us, and we've designed Magic Domino with your data security in mind. Magic Domino™ has no accounts, and we never ask for your email or contact details. Your games are stored on your device. The exceptions are the features that connect devices, and each does nothing until you start it: if you share a scoreboard live, its contents are sent to the devices you share with — see Live Share & Transfer — and if you play the game with other people, your moves, the name you chose and, if you add them, your photo and voice notes reach the people at your table — see Playing the Game Online. The app also sends us anonymous usage counts, with no identifier for you or your device, which you can turn off — see Anonymous Usage Statistics.
Information We Collect
Magic Domino is designed to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, and we never ask for your email, phone number or address. Below is everything the app does with your information, feature by feature; every feature that sends anything off your device is optional.
- Game Data: All scores, game history, and tournament results are stored locally on your device. We have no access to this data.
- iCloud Sync (Premium, iOS only — optional): On iPhone and iPad, if you enable iCloud sync, your game data is stored in your personal iCloud account managed by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Cross-device sync is not yet available on Android and is planned for a future update.
- Camera Access: Used for AI score counting and — only if you choose to — to take a photo for your face in the game. For counting, all image processing happens on your device in real time, and the picture is never saved or uploaded. A photo you take for your face is handled as described under Your Photo in the Game.
- Photo Library Access (Premium, iOS 26+ and Android): Premium users on iOS 26 or later and on Android can select photos from their library to customize the scoreboard background. Selected photos are compressed, stored locally on your device, and never uploaded to our servers. We do not have access to your photo library or the photos you select.
- Widgets & Live Activity (Premium, iOS 26+): Premium users on iOS 26 or later can display game scores on their home screen, lock screen, and Dynamic Island via widgets and Live Activity. You can also add Quick Points and undo scores directly from your Lock Screen. All widget and Live Activity data is read from and written to your locally stored game data and is never transmitted to our servers. Widgets are not yet available on Android and are planned for a future update.
- Local Network Access: Live Share looks for other devices on the same Wi-Fi network so they can connect directly instead of going through our relay. iOS asks for Local Network permission the first time you use it; Android asks for the equivalent nearby-devices permission. This access is used only to find and connect to devices you are actively sharing with — never to scan your network for anything else, and never to determine your location. You can decline it, and Live Share will use the relay instead.
- Watching in a Browser (magicdomino.com — free, no app and no account): A tournament can also be followed in an ordinary web browser — on a phone, a laptop, or a smart TV — by opening magicdomino.com and entering the room code. Nothing needs to be installed. That page holds its own connection to our relay, so like any website it receives the IP address of the connecting device as an unavoidable part of how network connections work. We set no cookies on it, and there are no tracking pixels or advertising anywhere on magicdomino.com. To see which pages are useful, each page view on magicdomino.com is counted anonymously — which page, the browser's language, and whether a store button was tapped — with no cookie, no identifier, and nothing stored about you; if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted at all. The page stores three things in your browser's own local storage, on your device, which we cannot read: your light-or-dark preference, your language choice if you have picked one with the language selector, and a copy of the bracket you are watching, saved under that room code. The bracket copy is what lets the page show you the standings again immediately if you reload or briefly lose signal instead of flashing an empty screen. It stays in your browser until you clear your browsing data for this site, and it contains the same game contents the host chose to share — team names, scores, and the bracket. Nothing you do as a viewer is sent anywhere except the room code needed to join.
- Playing the Game Online (iOS 26+ — optional): A game against the computer stays on your device: the only thing sent is an anonymous count — which table and level, and whether it was won, never the tiles, moves or names — described under Anonymous Usage Statistics. When you sit at a table with other people, what reaches them is what a table needs: the display name you chose (or none — a name is optional), the moves of the game, the table's rules and the room code, plus a random identifier your app generated once and keeps, which has no account behind it and tells us nothing about you. A table you open for friends is held on our server at
live.magicdomino.comso they can join from anywhere, and friends on the same Wi-Fi also reach the host's phone directly; while the server holds the table, what the table shares passes through it, even when everyone sits on the same Wi-Fi. The server keeps the table only while the host keeps it open and keeps nothing afterwards; the host's phone, not our server, runs the game. A table opened on the Wi-Fi alone, when the internet cannot be reached, travels directly between the phones and never reaches us. Quick Match tables always go through the server. While you wait in Quick Match, a waiting list holds a per-search random id, your identifier and the identifiers of players you have blocked for at most sixty seconds at a time, so the two of you are never seated together. Like any internet service, the relay receives the IP address of connecting devices as an unavoidable part of how connections work. Names are free text you type yourself and are filtered on your device before they are shown to anyone. - Voice Notes at an Online Table (iOS 26+ — optional): At a table with other people you can hold the microphone button to send a voice note of up to five seconds. It is recorded only while you hold the button, sent through our server at
live.magicdomino.com(or directly over the same Wi-Fi) to the players at your table, and played there; everyone at the table hears it, and in Find a match that includes people you do not know. We do not keep voice notes: the server passes them on and forgets them. The one exception is a note another player reports: that player's app sends us the note it received, we keep it for 30 days so we can review the report, and then it is deleted. You can mute one player's voice notes or all of them at any time, the host of a friends' table can switch voice notes off for the whole table, and voice notes are not available to anyone whose Apple account says they are under 13. - Your Photo in the Game (iOS 26+ — optional, 13 and up): In the game you can wear your own photo instead of one of the built-in faces, chosen from your library or taken with the camera. Your phone crops it to a small square and uploads only that square to our photo server at
avatars.magicdomino.com; hidden details stored in the image, such as location and camera data, are removed. Before anyone sees it, it is checked automatically by two services — Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety and Amazon Rekognition — which only answer whether it may be shown; nothing else about you is sent with it. A photo that passes is stored under a random code and shown fromphotos.magicdomino.comto the players at your tables. Anyone who has that code can see it, so only use a photo you are happy for strangers to see. Tap Remove photo at any time and we delete our copy; a photo whose app has not checked in for 90 days — for example because the app was deleted — is deleted as well. Other players can report your photo, and a photo that breaks the rules is removed. Photos are not available to anyone whose Apple account says they are under 13. - Game Center (iOS 26+ — optional): If you are signed in to Apple's Game Center, the game sends it your Daily Deal score and the achievements you earn, so Game Center can show leaderboards, challenges and achievements. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; Magic Domino never receives, stores or sends your Game Center ID. If you are not signed in, nothing is sent, and the Daily Deal works the same.
- Age Range (iOS 26+): Photos and voice notes are for players 13 and up. The first time you use one of them, the app asks Apple's Declared Age Range for an age range — never your date of birth — and keeps only the answer, on your device. It is never sent to us. If no age range is shared, both features stay available.
- Reports and Blocking: Blocking a player is a list kept on your device; we never see it except as the identifiers sent with a Quick Match search. When you report a player, we keep the reported player's identifier and their name as it appeared, the reason you chose, your own identifier, the room code and the time — and, if you report a voice note or a photo, that note or photo, as described above. We keep it so we can review it within 24 hours and remove offending content; a bounded number of recent reports is held and older ones fall away. None of it is tied to an account, because there are none.
- Anonymous Usage Statistics (iPhone and iPad; Android in a future update — you can turn it off): To learn which features matter and what needs fixing, the app sends us counts of what happens in it — for example that a game was finished, which mode and target score it used, which page was opened, how long the app stayed open, the app and system version, the device type (phone or tablet), the app's language, the Region set in your phone's settings, whether accessibility settings such as larger text are on, and crash and performance reports from Apple's MetricKit. These counts contain no name, no team or player name, nothing you type, no photos, no location, no advertising identifier, and no identifier for you or your device — the app never creates one. Each count carries only the day it happened and the day the app was first opened, so we can tell how many players come back without being able to tell any of them apart. Counts are sent to our server at
stats.magicdomino.com, which keeps only daily totals; the address your connection comes from is used to deliver the request and is never stored. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → About → “Share anonymous usage stats”; anything not yet sent is deleted from your device immediately. - Name Styles (iOS 26+ — saving custom styles requires Premium): Fonts, colors, and effects you apply to team names are stored locally on your device as part of your app settings. They are never uploaded to our servers. Name Styles are not yet available on Android and are planned for a future update.
- Game Timer (iOS 26+ and Android, free for everyone): Off by default. When enabled, elapsed time is calculated on your device from timestamps already saved with your games. Nothing extra is collected, and nothing is transmitted — though elapsed time does appear on share cards and in shared games, as part of that game's contents. Separately, the anonymous usage counts (see Anonymous Usage Statistics) include how long a finished game lasted, rounded to the minute, with no scores or names.
- Purchase Information: All subscriptions and purchases are managed securely by Apple through the App Store (on iOS) or by Google through Google Play (on Android). We do not store or have access to your payment details.
- Advertising (Free Users Only): Free version users may see ads served through Google AdMob, with Unity Ads competing for the same ad spaces through AdMob mediation. In the game, ads appear only after a finished game, while you wait alone for players to arrive, or when you choose to watch one — never during a hand. These networks collect certain device information for ad delivery and personalization. Premium users have an ad-free experience with no ad tracking.
How We Use Your Information
We have no accounts, and the only statistics we keep are anonymous daily totals, so there is very little to use. Almost everything stays on your device.
- Game data remains on your device to provide score tracking and history
- Camera is used in real-time for AI counting only
- Selected background photos are stored locally on your device only (iOS 26+ and Android)
- Widget and Live Activity data is read from and written to your locally stored game data (iOS 26+)
- Game contents are transmitted only when you start Live Share or Transfer, and only to the devices you share with
- Name Styles and Game Timer settings stay on your device
- iCloud sync (if enabled by you on iOS) uses Apple's secure infrastructure
- When you play the game with other people, your name, photo, voice notes and moves go only to the people at your table; a Quick Match search is held only while you wait, and a report only until it has been reviewed
- Anonymous usage counts (which features are used, crashes, app versions) are used only to decide what to improve and fix in Magic Domino. They are never sold, never shared, never used for advertising, and cannot be traced back to you.
Data Storage and Security
All your game data, custom background photos, name styles, and app settings are stored locally on your device in the app's secure storage. On iOS, if you enable iCloud sync, data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's secure infrastructure. We do not have access to your iCloud data or any files stored on your device.
Live Share and Transfer are the exception, and only while you are using them. Traffic to and from our relay is encrypted in transit (HTTPS and secure WebSockets). A live room holds the game only for as long as the session is open; a transfer payload is held only until it is claimed or expires. Neither is tied to an account, because there are no accounts. If you never use Live Share or Transfer, the contents of your games — team names, scores and rounds — never reach our servers; the only thing that does is the anonymous usage counts described under Anonymous Usage Statistics, which you can turn off.
If you watch a tournament in a browser, your browser also keeps its own copy of the bracket you were watching, on your device, so the page can repaint instantly on reload — see Watching in a Browser above. Clearing your browsing data for magicdomino.com removes it.
The game's online tables follow the same rules as Live Share: encrypted in transit, held only while the table is open, tied to no account. What remains after a table closes is only what is described above: a report you file (with a reported voice note, for 30 days), your photo for as long as you use it, and the copy of a game in progress that lets another player's phone take a table over, which is deleted within 12 hours of the last player leaving.
Third-Party Services
Magic Domino integrates with the following services:
- Apple App Store (iOS): Handles all purchases and subscriptions securely on iPhone and iPad
- Google Play (Android): Handles all purchases and subscriptions securely on Android devices
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage and validate subscriptions and purchases and to deliver Premium access consistently across iOS and Android. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription details (such as the product purchased, transaction receipt, and platform) along with an anonymous app-generated identifier. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment card details — those remain with Apple or Google. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple iCloud (iOS): Optional sync feature for Premium users — data stays in your personal iCloud account
- Magic Domino Live Relay (
live.magicdomino.com): Our own relay, operated by us and not a third party. It passes shared game contents between devices that cannot reach each other directly. It is used only during Live Share and Transfer sessions you start yourself. - The same relay carries the game's online tables (tables opened for friends, and Quick Match) and their voice notes, and receives the reports described above. A table opened on the Wi-Fi alone never touches it.
- Magic Domino Photos (avatars.magicdomino.com, photos.magicdomino.com): Our own photo server, operated by us. It stores the photo you choose for your face in the game, and nothing else, for as long as you use it.
- Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety and Amazon Rekognition: Automatic checks of a photo you choose for your face in the game, before anyone sees it. They receive only the photo itself and answer whether it may be shown.
- Apple Game Center (iOS 26+): Optional leaderboards, challenges and achievements for the game, run by Apple. See Apple's privacy policy.
-
Google AdMob (Free Users Only): We use Google AdMob as our primary advertising network to serve ads to free users. AdMob may collect and use the following information:
- Device advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android)
- IP address
- Device type and operating system
- App usage and interaction data
- Ad interaction data (views, clicks)
For more information on Google AdMob's data practices, please visit: Google Privacy Policy
-
Unity Ads (Free Users Only): Unity Ads competes for each ad space through AdMob mediation. Unity Ads may collect and use the same categories of information listed above (advertising identifiers, IP address, device type and operating system, app usage data, and ad interaction data).
This data is used to show personalized ads and measure ad performance. Premium subscribers have zero ads and zero ad tracking.
For more information on Unity Ads' data practices, please visit: Unity Ads Privacy Policy
Your ad choices in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: there the app asks for your consent with Google's consent form before any ad is shown. If you choose “Do not consent”, you still see ads, but they are not personalised. You can review or change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → About → Privacy choices for ads.
We do not collect personal information such as your email or phone number, and we do not sell user data. Google AdMob and Unity Ads collect device data directly from your device for advertising purposes only (free users). RevenueCat receives only anonymous purchase and subscription data needed to deliver your Premium access. Apple and Google handle all payment information directly.
Children's Privacy
Magic Domino does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed to be family-friendly and safe for all ages. In the game, photos and voice notes are not available to anyone whose Apple account says they are under 13.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
